Please share your love and support as they work towards a US Men’s National title. Team Dunnam is a family affair, with two of its four members being brothers and a third member being a cousin. They are easy to root for as they are all such nice people!
I, personally, caught the curling bug in 2018 after the US Men’s team, skipped by John Shuster, won gold at the Olympics. I googled “curling in Delaware” and found Diamond State Curling Club. Two years of hobby curling later, the Pandemic hit and shut down all curling clubs for a year. When they re-opened, I kept playing four-person team curling with Diamond State but expanded into mixed doubles curling with my husband at Bucks County Curling Club. There, we met Scott and his brother, Andy, and cousin, Cody, three of the four members of Team Dunnam. All local guys who grew up curling with their parents out of Philadelphia Curling Club.
While we all watch the Olympics on TV and have some concept of what it takes to be an elite-level athlete in any sport, I have gained new respect by watching Team Dunnam play and practice at Bucks County Curling Club. As club members, we have a front row seat to see what it really takes. They all work full time jobs and also curl at a competitive level. This requires more than just dedication. It requires a lot of time, effort, money and perseverance when things do not go your way. I am happy to be a part of their quest for a US National title and, hopefully, an eventual berth to the Olympics! It may be their dream, but we can all share it with them.
